It's back for 2012! The first 'big ride of the scooter season'.
We meet at the iconic London Eye on the South Bank of the Thames River at 11am on Saturday March 24th. We leave the London Eye at midday SHARP for a ride through London to a special location for some hot food and good times! The final location is the historical Old Royal Naval College in the Royal Borough of Greenwich! http://www.ornc.org/ This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to park in the grounds of this amazing property, check out the history of this (soon to be) Olympic site and unwind with friends with a locally produced beer and a hog roast (outside) at the Meantime Brewery on site. http://www.meantimebrewing.com/ http://www.roasthog.com/ Trophies will be awarded for Best Lambretta, Best Vespa and Best Mod Scooter so get polishing! 11am- Meet at Base of London Eye: Riverside Building, London SE1.
12pm SHARP depart Belvedere Road
Turn RIGHT onto York Road and follow roundabout onto Westminster Bridge Road
Turn RIGHT opposite Big Ben onto Embankment DO NOT CONTINUE TO WESTMINSTER ROUNDABOUT!!!
FOLLOW EMBANKMENT/LOWER THAMES ST/UPPER THAMES ST
(Observe catch up points along this road)
Turn LEFT onto Minories at Tower Gateway and follow road around one way system.
Turn RIGHT at bottom of hill following sign for TOWER BRIDGE
Continue STRAIGHT over Tower Bridge (20mph limit)
Take SECOND set of traffic lights turning LEFT onto Jamaica Road (Beware of roadworks at this junction)
Observe catch up points along this road
FOLLOW JAMAICA ROAD STRAIGHT TO BIG ROUNDABOUT
YES WE CAN USE BUS LANES ON THIS ROAD
Take 3RD exit at roundabout to SURREY QUAYS/GREENWICH (Lower Road)
FOLLOW LOWER ROAD/EVELYN STREET STRAIGHT TO Deptford Church st junction
Observe Bus lane rules along this road
Vier LEFT onto Creek Road (Greenwich) at junction to Deptford/Lewisham/BlackheathA2.
FOLLOW CREEK ROAD STRAIGHT INTO GREENWICH
Follow ONE WAY system
Enter Old Royal Naval College through black gates (West Gate) SE10 9NN
Follow signs to park in designated area ONLY
NB there is a 5MPH limit in force on the grounds. This is a space open to pedestrians too so please adhere to these rules.
