Friday 13th Welcoming Party 8pm-1am
The Union Club Trent Side, West Bridgeford.
As we promised way back last year (21st July 2011 ) a week after the Moddingham 1. The fabulous SMALL FAKERS start up the weekend’s events in pure Mod style. The boys in the Fakers have been around for a while now, and each review they get, just gets better and better eachtime. Unfortunately the Small Fakers don’t get any better, simply because they cannot. THEY ARE INDEED AS CLOSE AS YOU WILL EVER GET TO THE REAL THING. Vinyl support will include the very best original 1960’s 45 rpm singles that have graced many Mod Clubs for nearly fifty years. Moddingham Weekenders Messer’s Wall & Grinham will be accompanied by Louie Thompson (Gaffer @ The Chitlin Circuit) who did us so proud last year, that it made sense to have him back this year.
Saturday14th Free day Time Event.11am-5pm.
Bar Rossa Trent Side, West Bridgford.
Just like we did back in July of last year, this daytime event will include clothes and record stores. Scooter comp and ride out (not sure on destination yet but any suggestion’s welcome – if not, we may as well make it Nottingham Castle again) All this set against a soundtrack of yet more top quality Mod sounds.
Saturday Night At The Beat Room. 8pm-1am.
The Boat Club, Trent Side, West Bridgeford.
Joining Louie Thompson, Gary Wall, and Ian Grinham in The Beat Room this year is original Brighton Beach & Untouchables DJ Mark Ellis. This guy should have a knighthood for his services as a DJ in Mod Clubs. The atmosphere last year in The Beat Room had people talking about it for months and months. If it is not broken don’t fix it , so expect to hear once again the very best in British R&B, Blue Eyed Soul, Moody Mod Beat, Garage, Hammond Grooves, American R&B, and Jamaican Ska.
Saturday Night At the Soul Cellar.8pm-1am.
The Union, Trent Side, West Bridgeford.
Last year’s DJ’s included the Shrine Man Himself aka BIG Steve Brown ( Sure Shot R&B Club), and the charismatic Kev Such (The Cream Cracker Club). Who will be returning this year alongside Roger Banks, it would be easier to say where Roger has not DJ’d rather than where he has. Completing this year’s line up we have the excellent Martin Allsop ( who played an epic nonstop three hour set in last years after party). Expect to hear the very best in Rare Soul, Popcorn, R&B, Early Motown, and Northern Soul from the obscure to the well tried and tested.
FAREWELL PARTY 1am – 4am
Bar Rossa Trent Side, West Bridgford.
Doors will probably open around 1230am. To say farewell to what will be a fantastic weekend for all to enjoy. We will wind down the weekend’s events in style with three hours of nonstop Mid Sixties Mod Classics. Keep your wristbands handy, as the door staff will refuse entry if you do not have a wrist band.
