if i was sixteen again i would walk into a scooter dealer and put a deposit down on one of these

if you go in search of a worn smooth  30 year old 50 special you'll probably do nothing but push it for the first year and then when youre 17 and able to ride something bigger  you'll not want it anymore .

however something like the LN50 will work properly and you'll get a good trade in against whatever bigger scooter takes your fancy when youre older .

Its a nice scooter, i will have a look at it but do you know any cheaper ones?

Unless you know a cheap scooter mechanic, I would forget a vintage 50 cc. They are a pain in the arse to work on and as Hubert says, you will want something bigger after a few months. Having said that, The Vespa 50S is a nice looking scoot. A new automatic will cost you to begin with but if you look after it, you will get a good price when you want to sell next year.

Know any sites that would sell the 50S?

retrospective scooters have had some nice restored 50 specials but they'll want over 2k

another alternative would be to find a vespa 90 or possibly a primavera 125 and look into the possibility of having it converted down with a 50cc barrell

not 100% sure its possible though

i would just walk into a new lambretta dealer with a deposit and ride one of those LN50s away !

Personally don't like PKs but if you do, it's certainly affordable.

This might be out of your price range but looks nice

If i got the PK cause its only cheap i could sell it after and maybe get a Lambretta at 17 with a high cc

wouldent go down the vintage 50cc had a special load of rubbish spent more time pushing it hope this helps

I dont really like the look of the modern ones they just look like normal mopeds..
I like the generations between the 1960-1990's

That is fine but the older smallframe Vespas will need working on at some point, usually sooner rather than later. If you or someone you know can set the timing, change a gear cable, rebuild the carb or trace an electrical fault, you will be fine. Otherwise, you are almost certainly going to be very frustrated and the scooter will cost you more than it's worth.

Ill probaly sell the Vespa near 17 when i can get a higher one, luckily for me my next door does loads of things with cars bikes and scooters and does them up to a high standard than they were at first
