Yes, one of the best for me too.
80s Hip Hop has always been a staple of mine since, well, the 80s because of an interest in Acid Jazz and rare groove. One landmark gig for me was when I was lucky enough to see the mighty DJ Kool Herc live back in 2000. It was like watching my grandad spin some of the funkiest records on two of my mum's record players by artists like Jimmy Castor, Herman Kelly, Rufas Thomas, James Brown etc... just crazy. Another Hip Hop pioneer I've been lucky enough to see live is DJ Grandmaster Flash who did pretty much the same thing but with a bit more technical finesse.
its nice to know mate that some mods get the acidjazz/earlyhiphop thing and yes grandmasterflash is cool as for acid jazz i have the sugar lump albums and andy lewis on the acid jazz label put yu can beat herbie hancocks rockit
... with Grand Master DST's scratching? That track sent a lot of my friends off at a tangent back then.
