The Society of Cool!
One week and a day after receiving my signed copy of Back In The Room by Bruce Foxton I'm delighted with the new album from From The Jam. With the exception of a couple of ordinary tracks the album fails to disappoint. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 10 are my favourites. What do other folks think?

See that special edition of The Gift - 30th anniversary or something - is going for over a ton. Rip off. Their worst album too.
I remember Weller sneering at the Pistols for reforming but saying, 'Well, at least Steve and Paul will get something out of it at last ...'
Permalink Reply by The Snow Runner on October 8, 2012 at 17:23 The album is very good indeed. Have a look on the Foxton or From The Jam web site for all the details. Rick is sadly not with the band, but as "Back in the Room" is a Bruce Foxton CD its not a problem.
To be fair Weller sneers at a lot of things !
Permalink Reply by Gordon on October 8, 2012 at 18:05 Weller play's on more the a few track's on the album and it was also recorded at his studio's.
Permalink Reply by The Snow Runner on October 8, 2012 at 18:34 Yes Bruce and Paul are still good mates. Nice to see after so many years.
Permalink Reply by Gordon on October 8, 2012 at 18:08 Buckler's not been with FTJ for a couple of years now.
I agree the The Gift box set is a rip off but disagree that it is the bands worst album. I think it's their best by a mile.
Permalink Reply by maxr&b on October 9, 2012 at 9:51 To be honest, Gordon, I ought to give the Gift another go. I haven't heard it for years. My mate bought it when it came out and I just didn't like it so I didn't buy it. My favourite Jam albums are either Setting Sons or All Mod Cons, then In The City, then Sound Affects, then The Modern World.
I didn't like their last 4 or 5 singles much either although I religiously bought them. Great band though - brilliant gigs.
Permalink Reply by maxr&b on October 8, 2012 at 17:39 I'm a dull and simple lad. For some reason I thought Back In The Room was a single and that the album was something else.
I will def check it out. Thought FTJ were very good indeed when I saw them.
Permalink Reply by Ruby on October 8, 2012 at 18:35 I should have included track 9 which is one of my favourites. There are a good few tracks that are classic on the new album so well worth a buy Gordon. The album has come in at number 21 in the independent chart so give the guys your support and help them to move up the charts at the same time. Although I saw them in May after buying the album I bought tickets for their christmas gig in Glasgow. Although it's an In the City shot they will be playing some stuff from the album too. I hope they give us Later Days this time too as I love that. The Gift had a few crackers on it but I think you are pushing it by saying that it's their best album Gordon. Very controversial. So not like you :-P x
PS The album is available through Pledge Music :D

Permalink Reply by Gordon on October 8, 2012 at 20:09 Not controversial at all Ruby...just a point of view. I've alway thought Sound Affects and The Gift where the bands best albums. The Gift was always my fave of the lot both music and lyric wise.
