The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

Hello from wet and miserable Newcastle....

The Bank Holiday looks like another wash out!

I know we spoke about this a while ago... but is anyone going to the Berlin Beat Explosion, 17th September?

Mr B and I are going as part of our Honeymoon, before heading onto Paris.

It's meant to be really good. I think there are two (or three?) allnighters at different clubs and a boat trip with music down the Spree etc. I get the impression it's more Psych orientated, but could be wrong.....

As well as meeting up with some Euro Mods, It would be amazing to see some Brit Mods while we are there! So please say Guten Tag if you see us.

Keeping the faith.... even in the rain..... bah!

Well at least you have a wet Bank Holiday weekend to look forward to C&M. All we have to look forward to up here is a great night at Friday Street tonight (for those lucky enough) and a brilliant night at the Admiral tomorrow night. I suppose we will survive somehow ha ha.
Please pass on my regards to michael wink in berlin.
Will do Paul, I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of him...
I want to go, desperately, but couldn't get the money together. As far as I'm aware its a psych weekender, sure you'll have a blast. Look forward to hearing reports back.

Have a great honeymoon. Xx
Hey Holly,

Sure the honeymoon will be memorable in every way... the psych stuff is right up our strasse so hope you're right... nice to hear from you, hopefully catch up with you in October at Friday Street... are you going to the all day event in November? We love The Universal and I know you rate Them Beatles... xx
Afraid I'm going to be missing Friday Street in October, heading to All Saints in Lavarone (best weekender I've ever been to). If you're into the psych, sure you'll have a ball in Berlin. Hopefully I'll make it next year!

Should make it to the Mixed Up day in November, so hopefully see you then! Xx
Hey Paulie Michael is in Oberhausen which is about as close as Glasgow to London ;)

I been the last six years and going again this September it's great. It leans more towards Garage/Beat and Psych but a healthy dolop of across the board 60's sounds covered.
My email is drrobert@btinternet.com if you got any questions. Few us from London going and it's an amazing city with lots to discover. See ya there Rob Bailey
Is that not the weekender winkie is involved in Rob?Yip Berlin is great, was there on a stag doo a few years ago ,one thing though,it'e effing massive(like London),everyone speaks English though i think it's polite to make an effort, even learn how to order drinks,if nothing else it amuses the locals.
Thanks Rob,
We arrive on the Friday night late.
Allnighters.... this will be a test... not as young as we used to be!
We are also booked on the boat trip the next day. Perhaps a sedate way to manage inevitable hangovers? German beer is just too good. Mr B favours the weissbier, but I find it continues to ferment. Producing most un-modlike noises.... if you know what I mean.
(moving on from the typically British lavatorial references)
We are really looking forward to making new contacts and sniffing about the vintage stalls.
It would be great to meet up.
Come and say hello. We will be the ones looking lost on the U Bahn speaking loudly in Ger-glish....
Rob, the set you did at the Lido in early hours of sunday morning was the dog's... we couldn't stop dancing all night. We were there as part of our honeymoon experience having got hitched at the Chelsea & Kensington registry office on the 17th. Can you remember some of the stuff you played as it would be good to track some of the tunes down as a momento of the weekend. Cheers!
