The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool!

I wont put up Mods by Richard Barnes, as that's a given.

But just thought it might be fun to hear what people are reading out there. Anything, Music, clothing, history or even Vespa reapair books!

A couple from me to start. The Jam Unseen by Twink and MOD A very British Phenomenon by Terry Rawlings.

Got my new copy of Absolute Beginners this morning. Read it years ago but lent it out and....

Im very much looking forward to the Moons at the Cluny this evening!

About half way through "pushin and shovin" Don Hughes follow up book to "friday on my mind" at the minute, bit of extra interest for me as both books are set in my old manor,so recognise most of the places/streets/pubs/clubs etc.

@ Billy, let us know how you get on with that after you've finished it mate.

I really enjoyed Friday On My Mind.

Graeme, finished it last night, quite enjoyed it,especially the part of the book covering the beginning of the punk era! Don has obviously got a great knowledge of the music scene, and must have seen some top bands/gigs over the years. He doesnt pull any punches about his shortcomings in the book, about his marriage and drinking etc.Amazing how many pubs/clubs etc we have both frequented in the area, just in different eras,Well done Don !!

Cheers Billy,

Another one for my books to buy. :-)

Just finished A Short  History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson not mod related at all but one of the best books i have ever read,a book that puts human life into insignificant perspective,a brilliant read !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best book i ever read was the last one it was a biography Paul Barber the black guy out of only fools and horses boy that man went through a lot when he was a lad again nothing to do with Mods but it was a really good read. (Respect Paul)( Denzil).

A Short history of nearly everything - Bill Bryson

That book should be part of the national curriculum - it's a great read.

Finished Absolute Beginners, just as good as i remembered.

Just starting 84 Charing Cross Roar by Helene Hanff. Just never got around to this one, here goes.

Just started reading "High Fidelity" by Nick Nornsby. It seems very good and funny.
