The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

Well the movies on release here's my verdict, it was so so, I know it's a movie, hyped to the gills about Mod this and Mod that, but personally the Mod riots scenes were as scary as Sooty out his nut on Buckie waving a pick shaft handle!!! The Mods were to 'clean' Should have stuck a couple of Glasgow Mods in there fighting over a Fish Supper to give it some SOLE!!! lol! It was as entertaining as an episode of "Heartbeat" Saw Callum in it, well done!! You should have started a riot in the Cafe, brightened the movie plot up!!!  Like I said it was so so, would love to hear others views on this, cheers!!

charlie im going to see it on mon ill give an honest opinion after that, but id be scared if Sooty was out his nut on Buckie waving a pick shaft handle!!! its just not the norm, charlie what do you mean the mods where to clean? you wouldent want too see dirty mods would you?
if thay wanted realisim thay should have waited and filmed it at ayr at bank holliday this year, im sure we could still riot if we needed too!(jokes about tea cakes at dawn aside) do thay have a barracuda shop in ayr? now im geting bad ideas.
am going to see it next weekend and really looking forward to it (despite the reviews :)
Havent seen it yet , but was told the " Mod extras"were older guys in their 30s/ 40s, supposing to be 18/20 year olds. Getting younger extras would have made it more authentic...........ill give you my opinion when i see it .....

My son was 16 at the time - all the other extras involved in the cafe scene were under 25 (my mum was an extra too but she wasn't playing a mod). I think they tried to use younger extras for most of the mod scenes but as they also wanted original scooters a lot of the scooter riders were older...

I'm going to see it later on today - will look out for your son Stephen LOL

Seen young Callum right enough sitting at the table in the cafe.

I enjoyed the film as did my partner - was not looking into the mods and rockers scene to much as I was more interested in the screenplay as a whole.

Thumbs up for me for good acting and direction.

oooohhh screen play, get you! Barry Norman:)
Agree with you there Marty the Mods are a back drop in the movie, great to see hundreds of scooters on screen, the movie lacks soul if you know what  I mean.
We're off to see it next week too... will add our ten penneth when we've seen it... hear that shrill metallic scraping sound? that's us sharpening our knives...
"Clean' as in too perfect, look at some original Brighton riot photos, then see the movie, it's just my opinion I'm not out to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it, it is good they use the riots as part of a plot it's got a brilliant cast, will leave it at that, look forward to hearing what you all have to say in your own words.
The original is great, got it off E-Bay for a couple of quid, very atmospheric.
