Looking for a nice sturdy pair of desert boots, the obvious choice is Clarks but I've never actually had a pair of Clarks, are the definitely the best shout? Cheers, J.

Definitely go for a pair of Clarks, always last me years even with heavy wear, always good to check ebay as sometimes there's some going slightly cheaper than the Clarks site.

Such as these:

Traditionally one should go for Clarks, yes, but recently their quality went a bit downhill, with the soles getting kind of sticky after a while.

These are my current ones from Baracuta:

I would buy Clarks because they have the best price-quality proportion. But Kai is right it went down in the past. My main problem is: to get a pair in my size....men shoes starts at 40....I need 38/39 (EU)

Clarks are too expensive for me.

I bought some Roamers square toed desert boots with crepe sole, love em'

Most mens shops are doing a desert boot of some sort but you get what you pay for!

i agree with kai, soft sticky soles on my clarks dessies now, went for a pair of baracuta and definately worth the money i paid for them. i quite like the look of roamers too. have a look in TKMaxx for some cheapies.

check out this seller on EBAY for some great deals on Baracuta footwear. i have bought the pact brown leather ones and they look much better in the flesh the dark leather on the inside of boot is actually a darker brown and not black as in pic.

i also bought the loafers size 7 but they were too big and i returned them, i had to put  an insole in the dessies too. i would size down next time.
i was refunded no problem really good service.

One word - Clarks. You can get em in the sales for £35 or less and you can get them re-healed or re-soled.

I have two pairs of Baracuta which I wear for best and a pair of clarks Newton Mass which are slightly diff to a desert boot, a pair of roamers and a pair of 5 hole Modclothin ones. The Clarks are the most comfy but the Baracuta's look the smartest , but its close!

Really like those Baracutas Kia, I agree that you get what pay for. I've had a few pairs and the soles haven't lasted very long...think I'm going to go for a Clarks pair purely for the sturdiness, although I will have a wee shop around on E-bay and try and get them cheaper. Cheers for the replies. J.

I love the Ikon 3 hole myself.......
