The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

Greetings!

Just a swift line to tell you cool cats about an LA girl band called The Like.

They are playing some groovy tunes at King Tut's 1st Sept and down here at The Cluny, Newcastle on Thursday.

Check out their Myspace.... those chicks can really play, lots of swirling keyboards, fuzzy guitar and doe eyed, blonde singer.... what's not to like?

Tell us your thoughts....

Over and out.....

Not sure if I will manage to make it down to King Tuts C&M but I most certainly like the look of The Like. Its a pity they are not playing support to The Purple Hearts on Saturday, they would sure get the crowd (well half the crowd) into the gig early ha ha.
Just checked out some of their songs, and they quite are good. One vid called 'He's not a Boy' is very Modish and has a scooter at the start and everyone looks well dressed in it. I'm sure some clever clogs who is good with these jiggery pokery things will be able to put it on and let everyone see it. I'll need to see if I can get away tomorrow night now ha ha.
there you go! looking very hot,and sounding good.
Well done Barry, I knew someone would do the right thing. Its pretty cool eh !
yhea i like it its all good. did you hear the cover of will you still love me tomorow? on there my space page. that was class.
I watched three Barry, but not the cover of the Shirelles one yet. I'll have a wee look later.
am on the case to get a babysitter so i can go to this....like the look of the like! fingers crossed. :-)
Hey!
Really glad you checked the girls out.
Let us know how the LA darlings coped with the King Tuts crowd!
Keep on keeping on, people......
I am sure they will have everyone eating out of the palms of their hands (not literally) Here's hoping I manage to make it along. Maybe I could take my scooter.
Yeah, take the scoot Chris.. we love it... Charlotte is buying me one next spring (written contract signed in blood)... I got the target Viper helmet in readiness but the novelty soon wears off from just running round a desolate windswept Sainsbury's car park in it whilst making madman brum brum & phut phut noises... annnnyway, enough about my mental state, enjoy the Purple Hearts... we're hoping to catch up with you coolkitties & hepcats at October's Friday Street...
Great stuff Michael. I'm sure the Purple Hearts gig will be great. I saw them away back at the start of 1982 and they were brilliant then. It would be nice to get along to both gigs this week but we'll see what happens tonight. Look forward to meeting you both in October then.
Saw em last summer at the Terry Rawlings benefit Making the Modern Scene at The Rhythm Factory on Whitechapel Road... brash and brilliant... ray bans and maracas are optional on Saturday though... take some good photos for the site fella, we're going to get some of The Like if they're not too coy...
