The Society of Cool!
Just to clarify this a light-hearted conversation. I'm not looking for some serious relationship advice here :) If you are a young, male mod, then I'm sure you'll agree, girls these days just fancy guys with snap backs, chinos and high tops or Puma tracksuits and football boots. Not guys in three button suits and winklepickers, or button-down shirts with desert boots. We have a f***ed up society. Any advice lads? :)

I guess you'll just have to introduce ladies to the mod style gradually, and at the same time, look at the the modern music that I thought mods would accept In the 5 years mods started in the 60s, they changed from Bohemien Jazz, to black soul, and blue eyed soul, to Rock, like the The who, Dave Clark 5 etc, going slightly toward mainstream in the process
Look at the styles of music to come out of Britain in the last decade, and there you'll find some great music and girls, and you can gradually introduce them to older stuff
You can't expect mods to continue without changes in music, while appreciating what's gone. The basic visual expressions of the parka and scoot should remain
Mods stand for " modernists " by definition and past practice, you can't stay in the 60s

I personally have had to fight them off since 1979 and it's just as bad now after all this time. My sons the same since he started school, all the little girls dig his hair and clobber compared to the shaved heads of the other lads. Doesn't matter what cult the girls are involved with either, The rock a billy girls in the 80's used to follow me all over town and so did the hippy's and even the rockers . The mod look will always rule the roost with the chicks Liam ;)
Permalink Reply by Kai Ahland on October 16, 2012 at 17:29 Girls in the ´80s asked silly questions like: "If I became a mod, could I keep my Depeche Mode records!?" or "Is it possible to become only half mod!?" Answer to number one a definite "No", while the answer to the second question depended on her "Alleyway skills" ;-)

Give the new fashions a mod twist and let your style come through.
One bit of advice - burn yer parka! (if you have one) They are only useful if on a night out you want the p"*s taken out of you. (sorry to those who love em...)

Permalink Reply by Kevin on October 17, 2012 at 8:17 Just look for the right girls! My ex-girlfriend always said the Mod look was ridiculous...well, now she's my ex!
My Fiancée is different, she always liked my look, although she isn't a Mod herself.
The best advice would be: Be yourself. Don't adapt your style to the style of the other blokes and the right girl will find you sooner or later! Oh, and stop searching. Seriously. I always met my future girlfriends when I wasn't looking for one at all!
