Great stuff on RSG and Beat Club. I've seen the Motown Special also!

Say, Marco, Uschi Nerke (host of Beat Club) had no reason to hide behind Cathy McGowan, right? Beat Club did a famous special from the Marquee in ´66, one of Hendrix´s earliest tv appearences, I think.

No reason at all he did a great job,but i'd rather look at Cathy McGowen! I have that episode very early if I remember correctlyit might have been the Jimi hendrix Experience. now off that subject I do enjoy watching Uschi Nerke the mix of German and English was fun to watch.

"HE" did a great job!? This is Uschi Nerke:

My mistake Kai, was thinking of Beat Beat Beat and I cant remember names to save my life. My apologies for my Ignorence

No problem, Marco, but you have to admit that Uschi was a lot more sexy than Mel Sandock, host of Beat Beat Beat, pictured below, hahaha! He originated from Houston, Texas and later in the ´70s did a show on german radio that I used to listen tro as a kid!

They were american GI´s who quit the army while stationed in Germany.

There was a documentary on german/french tv station Arte about them recently- they definitely were proto-punk. People like Peter Zaremba of the Fleshtones (does anybody remember that SUPER ROCK band from the 80´s?) talked about how they influenced decades of musicians. Black Monk Time also was the title of their (only) 60´s studio album.

The Fleshtones would certainly be in my top 5 of white american Bands/artists. Still play the Hexbreaker album from time to time.

Yes i remember Fleshtones. I have one LP and (should i mention that) a live on... tape! We used to call that "speed rock"

If my memory is good, they were on I.R.S. (International Record Syndicate) Record Label which was a good label during eighties. They hosted The Cramps,  The Buzzcocks, Oingo Bongo, Doctor and the Medics (lol),  the Go-Go's and many more 80's stuff.

Always loved their logo:

Phil, I´ve got a Fleshtones live LP, called Speed Connection, live in Paris 1985. Saw them in 1988 or ´89 and remember really partying with quite a few post- mods in the first row, can´t remember much more as we were pretty pissed, lol!

I'm American (West Coast), but am really new to the site. Trying to find a way to keep up more on posts and new discussions.
