The Society of Cool!
Im in two minds, vespa px125 or lambretta li125. I've always loved lambretta more, but Im unclear on a few things.
Might sound silly question but Im a novice. when refuelling a lambretta li 125 do you have to do the oil/fuel mix everytime you need petrol?. my pal has got a newer vespa px. he puts a litre of oil every 5-10 full tanks of petrol due to the seperation system. can these go in rennovated lammies? or is it a long wait at the petrol station doing the mix everytime?
Also whats your favourite model? (ie; lambretta not kelly brook) any advice would be great, thanks.

Pouring Oil in your tank when you fill up is no great hardship but for reliability in my opinion the PX would be better (i'm gonna regret saying that, lol). There's nothing worse when you get your first scoot than it breaking down all the time!
Permalink Reply by Jim Jacob on September 3, 2012 at 14:27 Thanks paddy. would you still go for the px even if the lammie had a full restoration. Are the px's alot more reliable ??? My heart says lambretta my head says vespa. I really dont know what to do?. thanks again for your help mate.
Permalink Reply by Paddy McGonigle on September 3, 2012 at 14:42 If the Lammie had a full resto, an electronic ignition and a warranty i'd go for it, there's nothing wrong with Lambrettas (i've owned a few) Vespas are a lot easier to work on if you need to fix them yourself.
Permalink Reply by gem on September 3, 2012 at 15:31 i would go and have done ,for the PX, they are very reliable ,everyone i know who owns a lammy seem very religious ,they spend most of their time on their knees with the side panels off
LOL its always a Lammy in bits on our clubs runs :-)
was in the same situation back in Jan and ended up with a PX. Was going for a LI125 but all the people I spoke to suggested the PX. Not had a single problem with it and it gets a hammering miles wise
Permalink Reply by Sam on September 3, 2012 at 16:18 Hi - Its the same old story ' you pay for what you get' buy cheap and you'll get cheap.
Ive had many vespas over the years and true to form never really had a moments bother - However, brought a beautiful li125 special fully restored remaining on points and condenser - not a days trouble in over a year - seriously - nothing !
Garage is now empty of vespas....as they would lose everytime when the oprion to choose which one to take out.
Each to their own, theres a place for both ...the important thing is where they take you !

Permalink Reply by Gordon on September 3, 2012 at 22:47 If it's your first scooter get a P.X. Vespa 125. Lammy 125's are dead slow. If you want to get your bike test over and done with get a Vespa T5.
Permalink Reply by hubert davenport on September 4, 2012 at 2:22 who has restored the lambretta ?
theres no reason why a properly sorted lambretta series 3 shouldnt be a good buy providing its been screwed together well with quality parts .
then again it will be a nightmare if it hasnt
if theres any question marks about the lambretta play it safe with a new or nearly new PX
Permalink Reply by Mick Harwood on September 4, 2012 at 8:00 I would go for a PX, its the ideal first geared scooter. Thats what I did, I got plenty of miles under my belt on a PX and then when I felt comfortable and experienced enough on that I did my full test......... and then got a Lammy ! (200cc though, a 125cc wouldn't pull the skin of the top of as rice pudding).
