The Society of Cool!
I recently had this shirt made for me by itailor an on line tailor in Hong Kong. Cost me £40 including postage, no import tax as the shop sent it as being under £17.99. The buttons are plastic that is my only gripe but with my favourite shirts from Paul Smith being £125 and over maybe I shouldn't complain. Made a few photos to share. http://www.itailor.com/?gclid=CK-Pj-Oim64CFe4htAodF2sUKw

Permalink Reply by Karl Sheldon on February 14, 2012 at 15:31 Planning on buying my first proper suit. Is it a good idea to get it off this site, or one like it, or should I go to an actuall tailors?
Permalink Reply by Simon Gomery on February 14, 2012 at 20:36 Fully bespoke from a tailor can be very pricey depending on what part of the country you live in, I had my made by George in London he has made suits for lots of Mods and a few stars, he knows his onions does George he knew exactly what would be right for me his base price is £650. There is a good tailor in Leeds and in Chester if you live that way. If you trust somebody with a tape measure then the site I bought my shirt from would be ideal, its a very easy process and doesn't take long there are some nice cloths and you can choose from different styles etc, you won't get cloth covered buttons, but you can get frog mouthed trousers side waist adjusters if your like me and don't like a belt and wear braces. The shirt is really well made. Have a look mate take your time and you could get something very nice for less than £200. As they are in Hong Kong it is unlikely that you will pay import tax as well.
Permalink Reply by Karl Sheldon on February 14, 2012 at 21:35 thanks again mate for both replies. I live in Manchester so I'd imagine there must be some good enough tailors about, if I choose to do it that way. If I know most of what I want then hopefully can't go too wrong. There might be some good tailors not too far from me actually, I lvie in Alrincham which is near where a lot of the footy players live (sadly my area isn't quite as posh haha) so I'll have a good look locally but will also still consider ordering off internet.
Permalink Reply by john moar on February 16, 2012 at 18:39 I bought a plain white 100% cotton shirt from itailor and was very impressed. French cuffs and tab collar. Under £30! Will definitely be using them again. Might even try a suit.
Permalink Reply by Ben Cooper on February 17, 2012 at 0:45 I must admit I've been tempted with iTailor a few times for a suit but I've never really been convinced by some of the feed back from people, some of it has been a bit wishy washy, but after seeing your pics I think I may have a go in the coming weeks at one of the navy ones for £99.
Thanks for the feed back.
Permalink Reply by Simon Gomery on February 17, 2012 at 20:20 Ben I felt that way and because of my shape its a nightmare getting shirts in the shop and I thought well its less than I would pay in the shops my only gripe is the plastic buttons, but they can be replaced with some quality buttons off an old shirt or by buying some from a stall in a market somewhere.
Permalink Reply by Kai Ahland on March 22, 2012 at 21:29 I´ve ordered one at last (shirt, that is). Will look fantastic, only hope the size is ok; how precise are they Simon? Had one made by YouTailor before (now what´s missing is an online shop called "he/ she/ it tailors" hahaha!); ace quality and fit, but slightly more expensive than Itailor.
