The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

dont go on ebay drunk

i did and ended up with this

which is fine until you see what some eeejit has done on the back

to be fair it was advertised as such so i cant complain

i can complain about the beer goggles i viewed it with though

anyway it arrived this morning and i must say its one of the best shells i have seen in a long time

the olive green is much stronger than it seems in the two photos in fact its not far off a brand new m65 ive got

but what can i  do with that cack mural on the back of it ?

is there a product to get it off ?

or could i cover it with a patch ? [ least favourite option ....i'm too old for "mod rulez " on a target ]

i'd love to meet whoever painted that shite on there ....and punch him square in the face !

it has ruined quite an exceptional shell !

Hugo, i bloody saw that parka. although i read the description..Solution..Put a big bloody patch on the back.:-)

i might try this ?

i'll probably end up with two different shades of green but its better than the rubbish thats on there

as far as patches goes this would be good for riding the scooter with if it was big enuff !

That'll do the trick!!  LOL

what in the name of all thats holy is it on the back ? the front looks cool as though. maybe just stand with your back to something all the time ?

its like some weird little spaceman thing ?

it was probably done thirty odd years ago when the coats were worth nowt

with a bit of luck that olive fabric paint will get rid of it

if it doesnt  it'll have to be a patch

Hey Hubert
Don't spray that paint directly onto to M51, or you will get a really strong green stain on it.
Try diluting the paint if it's water based, that way you can try to match up the colour to your shell.
I would also try adding the product to a lint free cloth and patting it into your parka, that way you can build up the colour slowly.
Good luck with it mate
Well there is a US Navy tag on the front which is rare for a parka. They usually have US Army or US Air Force if they have anything at all on the front. The stencil on the back may be a hard helmet diver. This may be rare and you could sell it to a military collector. Lol You may be able to make some money and buy another one.

my wife painted a door with mt m51 behind it she also binned the liner  i never did get the paint off although every now and then i do like to remind her how much they cost now mind you i must admit to ruining it myself by keep changing the patches on it

I am sorry to say that but I have never heard about anything that get another colour out of a parka (without damages). Just try at a small place or ask at a dry-cleaner's, I think these people know best.

if that olive paint doesnt work i might take it to the kind of place that can screen print a design on your clothes .

hopefully they could screen print a  camoflague pattern over it   which would suit the patina of the coat .

or even for that matter screen print an olive drab patch over it which would be better

alternatively i seen a young lad just recently wearing one of those pretty green replicas with the big who thing painted on .

obviously an expensive xmas prezzie for him

anyway i could talk to a screen printing firm about something like that

it would at least make what is otherwise an excellent parka wearable

Personally, I would leave it there, if you're just wearing the parka on your scooter. It looks much better than a huge patch imho.

Get abig bloody WHO patch on the Back!  We are the mods.....:-)
