The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool!

Apart from the obvious Mod bands such  as: The Small Faces, The Who, The Kinks, what other bands do you all think are underrated which should have more respect?

Most of all The Creation. Of course The Action, The Artwoods, The Birds (mod??), Fleur de Lys, definitely John´s Children; The Eyes have often been ridiculed and I absolutely can´t see why! Ah, I mustn´t forget the Attack! Love them!

My favorites, The Yardbirds.

Steampacket! They didn´t record too much material, but what they left behind is highly explosive!Of course, Auger and Driscoll carried on with the by no means inferior Trinity:

I, somehow, only first heard of the Yardbirds yesterday. Listened to them straight away and was sadly disappointed. .

Karl, like a lot of bands, their early stuff was better than the later years. Have a listen to 5 live Yardbirds for some great raw R&B.

I´m with Karl here, I´m afraid. Pretty Things, Downliners Sect, early Kinks and Stones, Animals, Birds... I prefer them all to the Yardbirds.

cyril davis all-stars ??

Great outfit, just like Alexis Corners Blues Inc. where Davis was involved too. But I think Greg referred to bands whose members were more or less obviously mods themselves. Otherwise I´d immediately have to mention The Downliners Sect and The Pretty Things (who actually were regulars in John Stephens boutiques).

The Attack, Bram Rigg Set, Fleur de Lys, Rupert's People, The Eyes and The Lloyd Alexander Real Estate (just for the great "Gonna live again")...

The Universal, a great mod band playing today that are for me the most under-rated band around, check them out before you tell me im wrong.

Well if we don´t restrict it to the sixties then Ed Ball of The Times must be the most underrated great artist of all times.

Cliff Bennett and the rebel rousers, English soul band Mod as hell...
