The Society of Cool
from this months q magazine
a feature on modern day tribes
mod gets a mention but i'm not sure its complimentary !
my fred perrys can be tight
it must be the modern fit though
cant be all the pies and lager
in the magazine theres a very good interview with paul weller in there who is looking very smart in a grey suit .
why he's not on the cover i dont know ?
Well imagine, JB, once we had the hair we could do with it what we liked,LOL! Yes I too hate this Gallagher style unshaven look.
Don´t ask me about "new mod", JB. I´m into it since´83, so...what do I know. Suppose it´s this Oasis -wear your shirt out of your trouser- look.
OK, so I'll plead guilty to the tailored trousers, italian loafers, hosting a soul night at a local pub & a passion fopr old soul singles
But not guilty to attending Weller gigs in the last 10 years, listening to Noel Gallagher, wearing a tight Fred Perry t-shirt or EVER having "lovely feathery Rod The Mod Hair" (always went for more "short'n'neat)
P S The scruffy git in the drawing needs to have a shave, tuck his bloody shirt in & give those strides back to the fellow he borrowed them from (who is obviously a good 3 inches taller than he is), if you ask me!!
So wait... If Mod Dad's age is 32, how could he have been pictured in a fanzine in 1980? Or going to gigs since 1979? Or does that say 52, and my eyes are just that poorly?
It's ya eyes...
Sounds more like the description of a former 80's scooterboy, missing a flight jacket to top the style, not a mod. Q magazine needs to do it's research a bit better.
He looks more like a lumberjack with a ladies target handbag. It might look good in a forest!
Sleeps all night and works all day. Maybe he likes to press wild flowers!?
Q Magazine must be rubbish: Just fancy, there is a magazine to waste money on for people needing to understand style.
To Q magazine,
"You may laugh at us for being different, I laugh at you for all being the same".
There is always someone ready to take the piss, but understand this, it is all done out of fear, fear of someone who can be who they want to be, with out worrying about what others think. Life is full of haters, but see them for what they are, bottle less!! If only they had the guts eh!! , but no, what would the missus think , what would the boss think, like I said laugh away, I feel sorry for you, trapped in the dictates of an uncaring society, suckers !
Now I have seen the type they are referring to, and I don't fall into that category, however I will defend to the death their right to be who they want to be.
" You dont stop playing cos you get old, you get old cos you stop playing"
