Biba was one of the most successful of the boutiques, eventually expanding into a full department store with five levels. Never forgetting Mary Quant, hey Alan? LOL! Started Bazaar with husband Alexander Plunkett-Greene in 1955, popularised the mini skirt, and had the Designer Mini car done as a tribute to her in 1988. I have some of her pieces - even though only accesories - but fabulous finds nonetheless! ;-)

Also, America's own Mod Goddess - Peggy Moffitt. A true icon and idol of mine! ;-)

Hi MG.  Exactly.  Two fine examples.  Mary Quant especially here in Oz a household name

who is this, I wonder

Jean Shrimpton, isn´t it?

Here´s my favourite female mod icon in three different guises:

I like her with short hair - perhaps because I have also short hair.

Proto Skinhead girl somehow... How was the Beat Explosion weekend, Bettina?

Yes it is Jean, Alan! It´s from a ´67 Lambretta calendar, look up J Patersons photos, he posted the complete series a while ago. And here´s my favourite Lady ever (apart from the one I married, of course!)

oh Good, thanks Kai. I wasn't sure for a while.  I remember she turned up for the Melbourne Cup horse race in a mini skirt and caused a storm HA!

I agree Hepburn is beautiful!! Shes my fav lady too

sandy sarjeant for me

not sure if my last was Jean Shrimpton.  Couple of nice ladies here, well done.  Here is one of Jean Shrimpton

When I lived in London in 72, we used to go into BIBA,s, they had a fantastic cafe and rooftop garden, my sister had lots of BIBA Clothes, all the lacy tops were big in 68, shame it went, the buildings still there in Kensington High Street, but I Think Biba went in the 80,s?
