The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool!

Hello, Everyone!

A friend of mine recently unearthed an old demo recording of a song I wrote and performed sometime back in the very late 1980's, or early 1990's, called "Jo Jo Lee".

He transferred the demo from the original analog tape to a digital format and emailed it to me.

I had completely forgotten about this particular recording until it showed up in my Inbox a week, or so, ago.

I thought I would share it with my friends here at THE MOD GENERATION, as a bit of an experiment.

So, have a listen, if you care, or dare, to!  ha ha!

Jo Jo Lee (Version 2) by Chris Casey

I am not claiming the song to have any level of greatness, or even mediocrity!

I just found it to be a bit of a funny flashback and wanted to share it with some fine folks that I thought might enjoy it (or at least get a laugh out of it).   Hence, my posting it here!

The song, though an original composition by yours truly, owes a great deal to the frequently ripped-off bass line from The Beatles' "Taxman" and The Jam's "Start!".   But, I did try to give it my own spin.

Thanks for putting up with me and my little exercise in sharing some of my music via the internet.

Cheers, all!

Chris

PS = For those that might want to know who is to blame for this, or that, part of the song--I have to confess that I did all of it (the guitars, the bass, the vocals, and the drum programing).  It is all my fault.   Sorry.....

That´s great, Chris! It´s a backwards guitar at the start right? I did stuff like that too with analogue rec. equipment; it was a damn hard job to get it right back then! And -yes- it has acertain level of greatness, but I think you know it...;-)

Cheers, Kai!  I appreciate your kind words, brother.

Yes, that is a backwards guitar at the beginning (and also near the end).

I used to love messing around with the backwards stuff in the good old analogue days!  :o)

Yes, me too, Chris! Backwards guitars and cymbals too. But it almost drove me mad to get it right on my little 4- track, hahaha. Got a few old tapes from the ´90s flying about; I´ll work out a way to post them, too.

Cool Kai! I'd love to hear some of your stuff, brother!

Maybe our drummer has even already digitalized some of the old tapes. If not, I´ll get him to do so.

Sounds good, Kai!   Looking forward to hearing it!

I lke it too Chris! Your vocal style reminds me of Julian Lennon's stuff, it's great!

Thanks, MG!   Glad you liked the old tune!

And what you give is what you get!

Nah jk, your vocal is really good man! I can imagine you'd get a bit excited after uncovering a thing like that. Good on ya for sharing this!
Dig

Ta, Clem!

Thanks for listening, man!

Glad you dig it!

Alright Chris,

As a fellow musician, yes, I enjoyed it, good stuff mate, keep the faith.

Thanks, Paul!

I appreciate your comments, very much!
