What does everyone make of it? personally although at first is seems a good idea to revamp a clasic mod film, the atmosphere of the time and relevance would be gone.

i think if thay where to make another quad then its probly better continuing the story rather than remakeing it. but thay would need a cracker of a script before thay think about it.
This has been threatened for a long long time now. I remember people talking about a definite remake in 1981 and 1982 and it came to nothing. personally I would prefer that someone made a totally new film based on the early 60s Mod scene, one that was set prior to the Easter Bank holiday scuffles of 1964. It is that time that has always fascinated me with it being so underground and semi obscure.

Absolute Beginners? The book captures the underground modern jazz scene perfectly. The film??

They should do a movie of the Glasgow Mod scene we could have Andy Garcia as Bobby Black and Danny Devito as Coiley, and Mrs Doubtfire as April, the possibilities are endless, ha,ha!!!!!

I think your spot on mate, Ive been a mod since 1962 & by 1965 the scene was taken over by schoolkids & scooterboys. The true mod was a thing of the past.As a Brighton mod I remember the Bank holiday weekend as the begining of the end.

I agree with you Chris. film makers have been remaking so many films recently they are taking the atmosphere out of them there needs to be a good film about the mods but original rather than a remake. some good bands out there, who knows mayb we can ave another revival lol

I would be the first to go out and buy a remake of Quadrophenia as many would just to see, it does not mean it is right though, there is no possibility that it is going to even match the original emotionally with all the memories people have of it, every quirk, comment and quote made by the actors in the original are brilliant and memorable, it was perfect for the time, it's even perfect as a movie now for me.

Most of the remakes of films are crap in my opinion and it's a lack of movie writing skills and the ability to cash in that they are being made. It may atract new people to the scene possibly but it will take a hell of a skill to have anywhere even close to that of the original, a run on from the original maybe okay, maybe this time Jimmy would be the boss chatting away about business in the advertising agency toilets while some young chav bokes up the night befores WKD and mephs in the bogs! okay maybe not!!

A total new movie about 60s mod would be great, why even a movie about the revival would do.  Either way if it does come out I'll likely get it.

Remakes of originals are not normally well recieved. I agree with Amy in that respect, but i think a remake of Quadrophenia with a big launch would be interesting, the ability to recreat the 60s with modern technology would be one i would go and see, just out of interest . It might even get the younger generation intersted in Mod culture, just like it did with us, ok you will get the bandwagon jumpers , but they will drop away in time.....bring it on i say.....

Just think of the CGI effects to make the Brighton riots like in Troy, there will be 'Millions Like Us", Ha,ha!! What are they going to call the movie "Jurassic Parka' lol!!!!!!!!

I'm having a laugh maybe they could get Christine Aguileira to play "Monkey" in the remake, not "Monkey" in "Quadrophenia" but "Monkey" the T.V series, apparently she has a lot of facial hair, but I coulddn't see it under her ZZ Top beard, lol!!!

That'll be the fur trim on the hood Amy...

.....And think of how good the period clothing would look on the actors and extras now that proper gear is more accessable, compared to the scruffy extras in the original movie, with their shetland wool jumpers and flared jeans, if you have a close look , the extras were horribly dressed in the Brighton scenes..........
