The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool!

Have you ever asked yourself why your style of clothes,or your choice of music,or your preferred mode of transport is basically from an age gone by! Is it something we missed out on in our youth? Or in your mod world does the music from yesteryear tick your boxes, are the clothes your number 1 priority or is it the scooters that float your boat! For me these three critical points are and i suppose have always been in this order: 1/ Music. 2/Clothes. 3/ Scooters. Although i couldnt live without any of the three aforementioned. Whats your slant on your personal mod lifestyle?

Thanks, Bettina. It´s just the truth.

Jp, I've never asked myself that question... Till now!

To me it's really pretty much second nature at this point. I mean when Friday night rolls up I'm not all of the sudden gonna slap on some football jersey and some Nike. I'm pretty sure that most of us adhere to vintage stuff not just mod culture. Whether its old music or antique collectables, mid century furniture or sixties style clothing it doesnt really matter.
Most mods probably have things in common with other people we just look at stuff in a different way.
I guess i just like old stuff.

1) Music 2) Style 3) Scene.

The scene would continue to thrive without the scooters but take any of the three above and you pretty much have a wasteland.

It wasn't meant to be a head F##k mate.....Honest!!

I know that it's about time I get my act together and put up my list, so I've finally decided:

  1. Fashion/Clothes/Style/Hair
  2. Music/Scooter-related, 1960s and 1960s-related artwork/prints
  3. Dancing/having a laugh with/at my mates - you work out who I mean - ;-P
  4. "Ronnie" my [in pieces, sandblasted] scooter, plus getting my L's when I can get enough confidence - :-/

Enough Confidence?  Get the ''L'' out of here.....:-)

Yes, confidence.

I know you didn't know this JP, but I've had a lot to deal with over the last few years. Every time I know I want to do it, there's always something or someone that drags you down, just to make you feel uneasy. Sounds emo I know, but every day I think about going for the L's, I know that I can/will rise above them, prove them wrong and do it for myself.

Im right there with you  MG...:-0

It is really hard to say. I love design furniture (Bauhaus) and the clothing and the way of life - you are cool if you are a lady/gent and not someone who know every kind of dirty words. I love special furniture, the music, the clothing, the scootering...it is all.

No dirty word vocabulary here Bettina!!  :-)(-:

Of course not, never. But it is good to know what you don't like, isn't it? :-)

Mmm!  As I've only just got my scooter - mid life crisis, I'd have to put things in the priority of 1) music 2) clothes and 3) scooters too.  I don't dress like a mod but wear what I like and always feel smart.  Over the years I've liked lots of different types of music but I always go back to the sounds I loved in my youth but again I'm no expert on that score either as the new pop quiz on facebook will testify to.  I've always, always, always wanted a scoot though.  My pal had one when I was a kid and I so wanted one but couldnt afford it.  I think you appreciate it more second time around :0)  Don't you think???  Having read everyone else's comments I'm starting to think I'm not a real mod.  Oh dear :-(
