They want to knock it down to build a hotel for the olympics apparently. Would be a massive loss to Manchester and to Northern Soul. Please sign the petition.

I,ve signed it Karl, I was a regular at the Wheel in the 60,s, and still attend today, the greatest Mod/Soul club ever, the Cavern was destroyed in the 70,s, and Liverpool will forever regret it, it can,t happen to the WHEEL, what a state were in when we destroy places like this! were run by idiots, hope the younger Mods sign this, its their heritage but they don,t realise it.

I'm only 18 but me and a mate have recently started going in the last few months. would be gutted to see it go just as I'm getting into it all and starting too love it!

Thanks for starting this discussion Karl, it,s great that someone as young as you is concerned about the WHEEL, I,m concerned that out of 2000 plus members, only 7 have answered though, sad, it is the last standing iconic club of the Mod era, we are trying to get some top musicians involved, I.ll post any news on here, Steve Winwood might be contacting me, fingers crossed!!!

Not a problem at all Paul!

Over the years, I've heard many a story down here in Australia from ex-pats who have/had been there when it was all the rage for Northern Soul - amongst Wigan Casino, the Torch etc. I must admit, when I go back to the UK for another holiday (I need to win the lottery first LOL!), it's on my must-see and to-do list! Good luck with Steve Winwood! I'll keep my fingers-crossed also! ;-)

I wonder if Craig Charles and Ian Gray have signed the petition yet?? They have great soul shows on BBC 6 and BBC Cambridgeshire, respectively!
