SOUTH LONDON MOD/BEAT BAND "FLAT 19"

anyone remember? seeing a south london MOD/BEAT BAND called FLAT19 in the late 70s to early 80s around london? anyone got any photos or vidoes? they were resident at THE CASTLE PUB IN TOOTING SW17

wow!! thats great to see dez..that was my poster design and my hand writing too..quality!! i have our old manager trying to dig out stuff and barry frost has loads too.hopefully the page will become very rich in input and stuff from those great days in south london...i remember all those gigs..the purple hearts support was fab..speak soon yeah Andy H

Cool. Yeah, it'd be good to see some more stuff on Flat 19, I saw you quite a few times, good band you were. Remember you DJing as well of course down The Castle. I'm happy to send the poster to you or Barry whichever's best - you should have it really!

that would be just so cool if you could..my dad was a printer and we had a big batch of pinkish coloured ones done A3 i think too..maybe the old manager will find one when he digs about..barry has loads of stuff too.i will put any stuff my page ..have a look at the photos..there is a origional flyer there.if i get the other poster daz i will send yit to you mate..its just so mad to see my design and hand writing from 1981..if me and barry can locate the other two we may do some gigs..i am trying to get the master of the demo we did 3 tracks..flat19..perfect girl and silently crazy..if i do i may have some vinyl 45s done..watch this space..

That'd be good if you are able to put the Flat 19 demo out. I remember the Flat 19 tune still. A couple of people on Facebook today mentioned that there was a Flat 19 demo so that's cool innit http://www.facebook.com/groups/107041143435/?bookmark_t=group.

From The Castle, I only really know Mick Edwards, Kevin Woodward, John Woodward (Long Tall Shorty) now, Barry I'm FB friends with and I certainly hope to see him at some point. There's a few other people from The Castle days that I wonder what their doing, doubtless I'll bump into some of them at some point!

I was from Tooting and its always nice dropping into The Castle but my God its so loaded with memories still! I was saying to Mick E a while back about Mark McGurk who died many years ago - looked a bit like Kevin Rowland - cool scooter boy he was. Shame he ain't around still.

Never did track down Alvin though whuich is a shame.

i PM,d you my add mate...yeah tying to get the origional master tape is a serious quest but i will try..the whole scene at the castle was geat and yeah i enjoyed the DJinhg as well as the drumming..i sometimes came straight off stage and straight in the DJ booth to keep the night going..its a shame when anyone dies befor there time..i am sure i would recognise mark mcgurks face and his name rings a bell too..i am trying to put lots of castle photos on my page here so you know where to look for anything i get..i think Alvin did quite a few videos of some of the bands there as it was the age of the video recorder..he must have some real archive stuff if he is still alive and has it somewhere! i am trying to locate video footage i know that exists of Flat 19 doing a whole set virtually at our managers wedding..barry has lots of stuff from the practice sessions,kings head,castle so lots of stuff will appear now i am digging..and i am a good digger! cheers for the poster..what can i sday mate!! star!
