The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

Hello,

Are there any difference in the Suit Lapel Width Sizes of the Adam of London Suits and the ones from Jump The Gun or DNA Groove.

I am looking for a suit and unfortunately due to distance it is not possible for me visit any of these shops. However, the prices fall withn my budget and I would probably need to order online etc.

I prefer a slim lapel as to me it gives a sharper more modernistic look, but it is difficult to tell from the photos.

Also are there any characteristics of the cut of the suit which may be worth understanding.

Thanks

G

Dont know about DNA Groove but the lapels on Adams suits are wider than Jump the Gun's - also the jackets are a bit longer - so I would say, design-wise, Jump The Gun is better.

I particularly like the Jump The Gun Dark Blue Tonic it does look great in the photo.

Thanks Stephen,

I will try and find out how long the suit jackets are. I'm 5ft 8inch tall so hopefully shouldn't be a problem as I don't want it to be too short in the jacket. Thanks again.

Worth adding that Jump the gun's jackets are not as waisted as Adam's. I have one of each and like them both but I would say the one from Adam feels better quality.

Hey we are Mods,You have to wear what You think is Smart for You! Don't Care abaut Otters opinion!!!I Ya Feeling good in it- then you will Look Smart in it !!!!

G, dont be afraid of buying online, if it dont fit send it back. And therefor if it turns out to have lapels like dumbo's ears, it wont matter.

Claudio at DNA Groove is very good with after sales care, his Suit Lapels are spot on , just the correct width and length , and he will always get you a Suit as near to your measurements as possible......

And maybe a littlie something for the weekend??  Ha Ha

Thanks for the help so far. I will be looking to order a new suit soon and it is interesting to understand the differences between the different off the peg suits.

Smallest lapels I have are 2" with the top button level with the top of the breast pocket, looks a bit like something out of Quadrophenia, which I'm not too bothered about. The widest lapels I have are 3" so anyhere inbetween sounds good.

Look at most pictures of mods from the 60s and you'll see they didn't really conform to anything specific but they just looked right. IMO all that matters is how you put clothes together in terms of cut/colours rather than what an individual item of clothing looks like. I mean, you wouldn't put a 4 button bumfreezer jacket, in green say, from 1962 with a pair of orange flared trousers from 1966 would you?  I've seen this done BTW.

Why not paul?? nothin wrong with that dude. LOL:-))
