The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

If you were a fan of the online series you would have been a bit disappointed when it mysteriously disappeared from YouTube BUT you'll now be delighted to hear the team behind Svengali are planning a full length movie!

Svengali Movie

Svengali became a phenomenal YouTube cult success when its original nine episodes reached the public in 2011.

The comedy series built a large YouTube audience from around the world and its popularity, has led directly to Svengali reaching the big screen in style.

The film tells the story of Dixie, a small town guy with a big dream, played by Root Films co-founder and screenwriter Jonny Owen, leaving the Welsh Valleys for the bright lights of London intent on becoming the manager of the best band in the world.

This feel good British comedy will be brought to life with an award-winning cast: Vicky McClure, Martin Freeman and Michael Smiley.

Great news, svengali was a hoot

Brilliant, especially enjoyed the Mod episode with Martin Freeman in it which was very funny.

Saw Jonny Owen in an ep of Inspector George Gently.

I look forward to seeing this. According to IMDB, it came out in 2009.

they haven't made the movie yet - the online episodes would have started appearing 2009

Sorry Steve. They must've been talking about the YouTube series.

Jonny has been talking about the movie for ages on THE MODCAST.  An hour of Mod chat every month, Jonny has been a regular.  He is taking a few months off to shoot the film.  THE MODCAST is great; I look forward to it every month.  It is free on itunes.  I follow on Twitter and they let you know when the next one is available.   It is very 'London' and the clubs they mention mean nothing to me; however, definately well worth a listen.

i cant wait for this -  laughed the martin freeman rant about dixie being a mod
