The Society of Cool!
We have had various lists about what we like but this is the very first record you ever bought, not a mod one if it wasn't one. Be honest and let's see what comes up.
My first record i bought for myself with my own money was ISLANDS OF DREAMS by the SPRINGFIELDS ( including Dusty ) late '62 / 63

Permalink Reply by Chris Cameron on June 4, 2012 at 18:50 The first record I ever bought was 'Rat Race' by The Specials, around September 1980. I also bought their first LP around the same time. I was but a plastic Mod then and thought that they were a Mod band ha ha.
I have to admit that prior to getting into the Mod scene I had not really shown any interest in buying records, now I have a fairly decent selection of great vinyls.

Permalink Reply by Chris Casey on June 5, 2012 at 4:47 Mine was The Beatles' "I Feel Fine" b/w "She's A Woman" (U.S. single on Capitol Records). I bought it out of an "oldies" bin at a department store where my Mom worked in about 1969.
All Around The World by The Jam, 1977 with picture sleeve.
I was 15 at the time and can remember going into school looking like Weller and being sent home and told to come back when I had the appropriate uniform on,I thought I was as cool as f*** I even had the jam spats, great days..
