Permalink Reply by Steve Brown on Great to hear from an Original Southend ( My Old Manor) Mod. Made a mistake on the Lambretta an LI series1 not LD bless him. Never heard of Shades, sounded Ace. The Castle Pub still exists on the seafront, scooter riders still meet there to this day. The Cricketers Pub is still a credible live music venue. The Halfway House is another good seafront pub to stop off for a pint after cruisin the seafront a few times. The Who played another seafront venue The Kursal in the mid 60s.
Southend has always had a Mod scene, to this day,usually monthly Mod nite at The Railway Pub, Southend Shakedown-Mods n Rockers rideout, London to Southend Rideout. Kegra Racing scootershop and one another scooter shop I dont know the name of in Eastwood.Carmel Records, Pie n Mash shops.
Interestin stuff.
Permalink Reply by Steve Brown on The biggest Southend music venue is The Cliffs Pavillion overlooking the seafront, large venue. Seen Steve Marriott, Paul Weller and Ocean Colour Scene there.

Permalink Reply by Chad Worsley on Steve do you know about whether that mod night is for any ages since I'm 16 and I was thinking about going to it because me dad said it's where his lot used to go and there's no clubs in Chelmsford!!!!
