She's a right bundle of laughs her. (I don't think) The revival had hardly started off and she's got it ending. Thank goodness I never liked her in the first place otherwise that would have put me right of her. I would call her something sarky like Janet Street Walker but that is stretching the imagination too far ha ha.
How dare she question Mods and Mods fashion, when she's wearing what looks like to me a plastic table cover from a greasy spoon cafe. The minging cow
Excellent, enjoyed watching this although a very sceptical look at the mod scene from a media view point. The program tried to be hip and down with the kids, tried to analyse and understand what is happening on the street. Unfortunately the presenter and the editor had no idea of what was happening and condescendingly argues that the mod revival is a flash in the pan, referencing other recent youth movements as evidence which I feel trivialised a very exciting time which was based on a true genuine renaissance for music, clothing and style. Smug, arrogant, arty and full of shite with no comprehension of the energy, passion or heritage. I did however enjoy the imagery and the music it’s just a shame it was not portrayed in a more positive light.
What a condecending cow she is,Coming from a crazy mixed up family {she wished her mother dead at one time}. she was never really mixed up with the mods in the sixties, unlike the beautiful Kathy McGowan {Queen of the Mods}. she said that the mod revival is a ``flash in the pan`` well, at least they are trying and growing with enthusiasm with the `cult following` whoever gave her permission to film this trash ? it merited nothing.
I enjoyed that.but would have to say that most people that were part of the so called revival were just following a fad.The real Mods stuck it out, long after the media had condemed us to death and moved on to the next big thing.I personaly think that after that with Bands like "Makin Time", The "Prisoners" "The Scene" etc The real Mod scene although smaller was stronger and better.
I loved it being underground, like a secret world that no one else knew about except us.
something like it is now
I suppose it may well have differed with each region John. The biggest majority of Glasgow Mods who got into it even before Quadrophenia was released were still into the scene three years later. The majority of us only started to distance ourselves from it as the clubs shut down at the end of 1982 and the scene became dominated by the scooter boy trend. There was just nowhere to go for most of us in Glasgow apart from the odd scooter club bash, and they were not that good. Most of us still dressed as Mods until into 1984 but going to scooter rally's as a Mod in those days was not the most enjoyable experience either.
It was the same here Chris as regards the scooter boy trend, and in particular when Northern Soul became big.The divide between Mods and the scooterboy scene was bad. these are the people that called themselves Mods during the revival then turned scooterboy and slated all things Mod.
over here Mod clubs started to operate a "No jeans or greens" policy just to keep the trouble makers out.Never went to scooter rallies back then for the same reason.
HiJohn.
Maybe it`s me having a `senior` moment, but i don`t recall the divide between the Mods and `scooterboys`, i thought that was all part of the makeup, sure some would wear jeans ,but most would wear Tonic Suits {i did mostly } unless the weather was shite while on the scoot. maybe after 78 it whaned off a tad and we did get the odd `tosser` trying to ruin it.but on the whole it was a good experience. now where is my green tonic suit, itwas in the back of this wardrobe somewhere? lol
regards Colin .
Hi Colin, i agree with what u say i was a mod....then a scooter girl n did all the rallies for yrs........i personally found in the UK every1 had a place from mods, scooterboys, rockabillys, punks n skins were all present at the runs.

I know i,ll get slated here but there was a bit of snobbery from "some" Mods back in the 80,s.....OH YES THERE WAS lol

Chris u still wanting my scooterboy to sort your scooter lol
Aye cheers Lainy, as long as Campbell doesn't turn up in a grass skirt with King Kurt murals on his scooter. And not so sure about snobbery from the Mods Lainy, just because we were superior to the others did not make us snobs ha ha.
can i just say that a "certain....so called scooter boy" that once went by the name of.....naw i cannae tell ye he'll kill me.....and i was told it in confidence too...hhmm hhmm....touched my wee 46 yr old lammie with his gifted hands....and you'd swear it was right out the wrapper now....so chrisophe....i would tread carefully.....very carefully....and all your probs will dissapear.......woooosh!!!!...ha ha
Excellent Stephen nice one
