Probably the only picture he had in his 'RIOTS' file.

I guess it would be far more worrying if ever a paper like The Sun understood and got it right.

Remember the poll tax riot in 1990? The Independent had a picture on the front page of a mohican-haired guy threatening a scared-looking middle-aged, middle-class-type woman, which looked like a nasty bit of thuggishness. However the woman in the photo wrote to the paper and claimed that it had misrepresented the shot. Apparently the bloke hadn't been threatening her at all and they were talking quite reasonably, and in fact she was supportive of him. It was a random photo that by putting a label on it made people think what the paper wanted them to believe. Clever bit of propaganda/manipulation. Dr Paul Josef Goebbells was pretty good at stuff like that.

What is new - we had to put up with the same rubbish back in the sixties!!

Its a shame the article was so poor and inaccurate... the journalist who spoke to me and the other guys admitted to not knowing anything about mods and yet didn't write anything we said and obviously made up what he thought sounded better... we were chuffed to get in the paper tho haha although embarrassed about the articles content

It was a nice photo of all the young men

that was not good that they sent someone who knows nothing about it and was a liar saying things that weren't said, good picture of you all though.

Well done jack, good picture even if the reporter was a goat.

I was dubious about reading it due it being written The Sun . As much as a love the film, I have always maintained there is more to Mod than Quad . I didnt think the people photographed and interviewed did us any favours , but the one thing the sun excels in is misrepresenting specific sterotypes , people , cultures , communities etc and concentrating of negative aspects in the past. There are some fantastic pictures and stories of Brighton on this site which will remain , whereas , any written piece by a newspaper today is the chip paper , hamster cage liner , or even toilet paper of tomorrow .

Its a bit harsh saying you didnt think the people photographed and interviewed did us any favours... we're clued up and love everything mod... the Sun didn't say anything we said and seemed to have made up a majority of the 'quotes' from us lot

Jack mate. Relax. We are all friends here. All Mods here. Don't take it personally. We all love the fact you got in the papers. It's cool that at least people are interested enough to wonder what we are all up to. The Sun is an awful paper and nobody should ever expect to read "the truth" in it. Good on ya fella... You keep our scene alive.....

yeah i dont take it personally just didnt want everyone to think that thats what we actually said which would be embarrassing... didnt want people to think we were an embarrassment to the mod scene you see

nobody will believe what the sun writes, and young mods like yourselves are a great credit to the scene, you're keeping the scene alive, good on ya!
