The Mod Generation

The Society of Cool

Just thought that I'd start this topic as nobody has [bothered?] to start it yet!

I was in one of my local charity shops today and bought these women's basket-weave, tassel loafers for only $8.50 AUD! Absolutely brill, to say the least! ;-) Now I can wear them with my new trousers from Sportscraft (see link below) and my Ben Sherman boating blazers! They were made by Australian shoe manufacturer Sandler, as part of their "Easy Steps" collection which still exists today. I think these shoes were an absolute find and would make excellent work and leisure (by that I mean dancing) shoes!

I also picked up two of my lay-aways. The first being two pairs of capris trousers - one pair in black and another in navy. Don't let the "capri" style fool you. They actually look like full-length trouser on me. I paid $105 AUD for each pair, instead of $150.

The second lay-away I picked up today was this lovely dress from Target that I purchased on sale a couple of months ago!

Happy shopping my Mod brothers and sisters! Look forward to reading and seeing what you've bought!

Being at work there is only a limited chance of being able to buy anything today. But I do have my eye on a couple of records and a nice Harrington so who knows. Well done with your own purchases MG, its always a great buzz finding something second hand at a good price.

One of my all time annoying things was when we were young and used to look through loads of records at the second hand markets in Glasgow hoping for a rarity amongst the crap. Sometimes you would look through and see that fantastic 'Stateside' label...only to look down and see it was another effin Gene Pitney 45 ha ha.

You'll find something Chris!

P.S I love your [signed by Ian] Small Faces spare wheel cover! ;-)

Cheers MG, the wheel cover was pretty cool even before Ian Mac signed it, but now its even better. I will just have to make sure some rogue doesn't nick it.

Well I did manage to buy something today. A copy of the Ernie K Doe classic 'Te-Ta-Te-Ta-Ta' (try saying that after a few bevs) on London for just more than a fiver.

Got this one yesterday in preparation for the summer (that´when it´s winter in Oz, Bec :-))

Well Kai, I was wearing opaque white tights, wool mix coat and a dress with mary jane shoes today because it was a little cold here - in Ballarat - only for it to warm up around 4pm. Nice polo, btw! ;-) Belated birthday wishes to your adorable 6-year-old son!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, I´ll tell Simon (where did I let on his birth date?)!

I think you mentioned it - in a way - when you put up that cute little pic of the two of you, showing of his H&M dessies! ;-)

How cold is it at your side? Today I were jeans, pullover, scraf and DM because it is really cold in Hamburg and the streets are dirty due to sand and salt throwing. I think Mary Janes are not really warmth. I don't want to damage any other pair so DM are correct for this kind of weather.

Nice shopping by the way.

As I'm weird and 62 years old, I'm moving slightly away from Mod as such and going more individual so when i sa this jacket in a local (Sidmouth Devon) charity shop I bought it. I've got no idea when i will wear it but it is slightly different. I think it's a coach drivers jacket as under the badge I put on it has tow holes in the lapel to fix a badge. The contrasting collar and cuffs gives it a Teddy boy look, which i find kinds funny. I do tell people that I'm an ex 60's Mod, as I now wear what I want when i want, but I'm still very Mod in my heart. The jacket cost me £3.50 GBP

Also bought at a local jumble sale this sherman polo. Cost 30p. thirty pence, it's ice blue, will do for roughin around in.

30p, JB?! Wow! Well done, Sir! ;-)
