My partner Michael used a similar brand of stuff sometime ago and says it (the hem) doesn't stay put and kind of makes the whole area stiff, not looking really that good either. Also, it doesn't last very long. :-(

Permalink Reply by JB on February 22, 2012 at 14:03 Yeh , have used wonderweb and other stuff on trouser bottoms. The wonder web is the one that actually goes between the two pieces of material and basically squashes or melts between them, so you can't see it at all. It works if you don't wash the item, but you need to wash (or dry clean) stuff so it then comes apart. The other stuff is thicker and is ironed on over the two pieces of material so is visable if you turn the trousers inside out, but you don't do ya. If you had quite a bit of material turned up inside of the trousers then you wouldn't see it. I've used it sometimes when i wanted to put a slope on my trousers so that the back of the trouser bottom is lower than the front. You simply iron ya trousers into the shape you want then carefully iron on the tape inside as high up and as neatly as you can. No one will see it. I know it's not the propper job and should be sewn, but I'm just saying that it does work, n so easy n quick too. What i tend to do for added safety is to just add a couple of stitches at the side seams of the trousers, just gives me the extra confidence that they won't come apart. That's on trousers though. On jeans I usually do ¼ inch turnups and all hand stitched.

Double sided sticky tape?
... just joking. ; )
