British Pathe archive

I have just come across this great British Pathe site. There are loads of period clips including the audience at Ready Steady Go, scooter rallies and fashion. Here are some I like.

This is a very weird silent clip of Mayfair in 1957 but it does show some early modernists on scooters. Not sure what Nell Gwyn and the flamenco dancers are about.

Hi Rob, I was very slightly involved in Reading Steady Go and was at the pre-opening evening. Yeh i saw Cilla um well, but apart from that it was ok. My voice was on the recordings talking about pills and clothes. Some lady from Reading uni' came all the way down here to Devon to interview me for two hours. She said some of it was for the RSG thing and some of it was for her own use teaching modern history. They only used one of my small photos as I didn't have many really mod photos. Looks like your profile piccy is from the exhibition. Cheers, John.
